Resource or Project Abstract
The research makes recommendations in terms of defining and setting out a vision for 'going-beyond compliance'. The research highlights the complexity, contextual and influencing factors to be mindful of when developing policy for environmental regulatory compliance. The research also outlines the gaps in the application of behavioural insights in relation to agenda setting and enforcement steps within policy development cycle. The knowledge developed in this research project is both useful at a national and international level as many of the same challenges, barriers and drivers are also found universally and many are persistent. Tools and approaches to support going-beyond compliance have some common characteristics across different nations and case studies investigated; therefore lesson learned from other international peers can support the development of national policy and associated tools and interventions.
